Can You Correctly Identify All These Star Wars Characters Cover

Lucasfilm

Ah, Star Wars. The first order of business is to figure out how you feel about the trilogy of trilogies. Do you consider 1977’s Star Wars movie, later renamed Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope, to be the first or the fourth movie in the nine-movie Star Wars saga? Your choice! Now we can talk about some of the iconic characters from these nine movies, and a few of the more obscure ones as well.

1: In the original 1977 film, which character lived with relatives on the planet Tatooine, where he repaired droids and learned how to fly a skyhopper?

Luke Skywalker

Lucasfilm

Luke Skywalker famously found a hologram message, calling for help, when he was cleaning a droid called R2-D2. This message inspired young Skywalker to begin his journey to fight against the Empire and discover his true identity.

2: When Luke’s father, Anakin Skywalker, fell to the dark side, what new name did he take?

Darth Vader

Lucasfilm

In his youth, Anakin Skywalker was considered to be the Chosen One in the Jedi prophecy, destined to destroy the Sith and bring balance to the Force. When he fell to the dark side, he became Darth Vader. “Darth” is a Sith title that means “Dark Lord.” Despite a popular misquote, in The Empire Strikes Back, Darth Vader actually tells Luke Skywalker “No, I am your father,” not “Luke, I am your father.”

3: Do you know the identity of Luke Skywalker’s twin?

Luke Skywalker’s twin

Lucasfilm

Leia and Luke are the fraternal twins of Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker. Because their mother died when they were young and their father fell to the dark side of the Force, the twins were separated. Leia was adopted by the royal family of Alderaan and thus gained her new name, Princess Leia Organa. Of course, casual fans may know her best for her cinnamon-bun hairstyle or the hologram in which she says, “Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi.”

4: Can you name the droid with a British accent that was made by Anakin Skywalker?

C-3PO

Lucasfilm

This, of course, is C-3PO. He’s programmed for etiquette and protocol, hence the elegant accent. Anakin Skywalker built him out of spare parts. C-3PO's best friend is the droid R2-D2.

5: Which main Star Wars character once called the Force a hokey religion?

Han Solo

Lucasfilm

When he met Luke Skywalker, pilot Han Solo said, “Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.” At other times, he famously bragged that, when he was a smuggler, he completed the Kessel Run in just twelve parsecs in his Millennium Falcon, whatever that means. During the trilogy of trilogies, Han Solo and Lei married, had three children, and eventually separated.

6: Do you know the name of Han Solo’s copilot, who was originally from the planet Kashyyyk?

Chewbacca

Lucasfilm

Chewbacca, or Chewie, was Han Solo’s copilot on the Millennium Falcon. He is a Wookiee, quite tall and very hairy. Chewie speaks in a language dialect called Shyriiwook, which Han Solo understands.

7: Which character was given the cold and impersonal name FN-2187 at birth?

Finn

Lucasfilm

FN-2187 was taken from his human family at birth to serve the First Order, so he never had a family name. He was forced to be a Stormtrooper, but he was not cut out for that role. He defected and joined forces with Han Solo and Chewbacca, along with the Jakku scavenger Rey and a droid called BB-8.

8: Which character gave his life to save Rey?

Ben Solo

Lucasfilm

Rey died at the hand of Palpatine, her grandfather. Ben Solo, the son of Leia Organa and Han Solo, used the Force and sacrificed himself to revive her. Rey then took the name Skywalker to honor Ben and his family.

9: What is another name for Palpatine?

Darth Sidious

Lucasfilm

He was born Sheev Palpatine on the planet Naboo. He eventually became a Sith apprentice and took the name Darth Sidious. He formed a close relationship with Anakin Skywalker. After the Clone Wars, Darth Sideous became the Emperor of the Galactic Empire.

10: Can you name the captain of the Mon Calamari Guard during the Clone Wars?

Admiral Ackbar

CGCG, Cartoon Network, Lucasfilm Animation Singapore

Mon Calamari Guard? Really? Well, Admiral Gial Ackbar does sort of look like a squid, but come on. He was born on an aquatic planet called Mon Cala.

11: Which android was the companion of Commander Poe Dameron?

BB-8

Lucasfilm

BB-8 is the sweet round android who must have a sophisticated internal gyroscope. He speaks in 27th-generation droidspeak code. He’s equipped with an arc welder, a holoprojector, a grappling line, and who knows what else. He first appears in Episode VII.

12: Do you know who once said, “You know, that ship’s saved my life quite a few times. She’s the fastest hunk o’ junk in the galaxy”?

Lando Calrissian

Lucasfilm

Landonis Balthazar Calrissian said those words. He lost the Millennium Falcon to Han Solo in a game of sabacc, which is a card game. Billy Dee Williams originally portrayed Calrissian, but Donald Glover took over in Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018).

13: Which female character was Leia’s closest ally in Episode VIII — The Last Jedi?

Amilyn Holdo

Lucasfilm

Amilyn Holdo was incredibly smart, but she hid it a bit under her purple hair. She was Leia’s closest ally in Episode VIII, but Poe Dameron didn’t trust her as much. Nevertheless, she sacrificed herself to support the Rebellion.

14: Do you know which pilot earned the second highest score in a flight simulator, just below Luke Skywalker?

Wedge Antilles

Lucasfilm

Wedge Antilles can’t help it that his name sounds like a place on a map. That may be why he’s often called Red Two. When he first flew in a flight simulator, he failed in less than ten seconds, but he practiced and took the advice of others, and eventually he became great.

15: What beautiful icy creatures were introduced in Episode VIII?

Vulptices

Lucasfilm

Vulptices are gorgeous fox-like creatures with crystalline fur, inspired by crystal chandeliers. Their name comes from “Vulpes,” the Latin name for fox, and “vertices,” the corners of a shape associated with crystals. There’s a little bit of “ice” in there too, probably.

16: Do you remember the character who was immensely disliked by audiences when they saw him in Episodes I and II?

Jar Jar Binks

Lucasfilm

George Lucas intended for the character to be funny and lovable, but audiences saw him differently. His role was greatly reduced in Episode III. In a Star Wars comic, Jar Jar’s father was introduced: George R. Binks.

17: Can you name this Nautolan character with a nice smile, from Attack of the Clones?

Kit Fisto

Lucasfilm

Kit Fisto was a green Nautolan Jedi Master. He could use the Force to create and manipulate water currents, and he could battle underwater. He was killed during an attempt to remove Palpatine from power.

18: Do you know which Star Wars character was played by Samuel L. Jackson?

Mace Windu

Lucasfilm

Mace Windu had the power of telekinesis—he could summon his purple lightsaber with his mind. The actor Samuel L. Jackson specifically asked if his character could have a purple lightsaber so he could find himself onscreen in the Geonosis battle scene. Brilliant idea!

19: Can you identify the feathered creature that Obi-Wan Kenobi rode in Revenge of the Sith?

Varactyl

Lucasfilm

Obi-Wan Kenobi rode a varactyl. These creatures are reptavian—reptilian and avian. The varactyls are herbivores with blue and green crests and feather ridges on their backs, originally from the sinkhole-covered planet Utapau.

20: What class of droids was marketed as “cute” but failed to connect with characters/consumers in the Star Wars universe?

MSE-6

Lucasfilm

We couldn’t end this quiz without mentioning the MSE-6 service droid, famously known as the toaster droid. It’s not a toaster, it just looks like one onscreen. Actually, it’s used for deliveries and maintenance. So many were made, and they often got underfoot, so busy people in a galaxy far far away just found them annoying.
